About Me

Personal
Alana Jones and pitbull dog

Hi, I’m Alana Jones. I am from a small, rural town outside of North Carolina. When I’m not working or continuing my education, I enjoy cooking, spending time with my family, friends, and dog, and traveling.

Some of my favorite travel spots include Savannah, G.A., Charleston, S.C., Atlantic Beach, N.C., and Boston, M.A. I enjoy being near the ocean and tasting delicious seafood from local spots.

I am very passionate about education and ensuring everyone has equal opportunities to receive a quality education.

Professional

My passion for education was sparked by my first job outside of high school. I worked as a science tutor at my local community college and learned that I had a knack for explaining material to college students. My experience as a graduate teaching assistant has given me many valuable tools that will ensure my success in higher education.

I am very excited to take the next step in reaching my career goals. I am currently in the first year of my PhD program. I plan to further my research in gendered communication, media studies, and feminist rhetoric.

After I finish my degree, I hope to teach courses that are centered around gendered communication, communication writing for professionals, and media effects.
