Teaching Philosophy

I have been on many paths throughout my educational journey. I have witnessed many teaching styles, instructors with a passion, or lack thereof, for student success, and several different learning methods. Because of my exposure to multiple viewpoints, I have found that the best teachers are those with a genuine desire for their students to be successful. As an educator, my genuine admiration for higher education and my passion for motivating others to love learning drive my teaching philosophy. I am motivated by the opportunity to inspire others to embrace the sea of knowledge that surrounds them. My approach to teaching is anchored in personalization, where each student's unique learning style is acknowledged, celebrated, and catered to.

Above all, I want to be approachable as an instructor. I aim to foster an atmosphere where students can freely voice their questions, concerns, and ideas. In my classroom, learning is not confined to transmitting information; it flourishes within a nurturing environment where students feel valued, supported, and comfortable expressing themselves. By cultivating a sense of belonging and mutual respect, students will be more motivated to attend class, submit assignments, and participate in discussions, ultimately boosting their commitment to education.

My goal is to impart practical knowledge and critical thinking skills to my students. As an educator, I view myself as a guide rather than a gatekeeper of knowledge. I embrace flexibility, openness, and continuous learning, adapting my teaching techniques to meet the evolving needs of my students. Active learning scenarios that imitate real-life are an integral aspect of my curriculum. Student success in my class can be measured by tracking their progress from the beginning of the class to the end. This can be measured by surveying student knowledge of material before and after exams, and comparing their grades from the beginning of the class to the end.

I am committed to inclusivity in the classroom. I listen to students' struggles every day and am aware of and sympathetic to the issues of today's students. I recognize the importance of inclusivity and strive to create a bias-free learning environment where all voices are heard and valued. I accomplish this by getting to know my students and their concerns, diversifying course material, and building a supportive culture in the classroom.

My teaching philosophy is grounded in a triad of building trust with students, offering them encouragement each step of the way, resulting in elevated student success. By kindling the flame of curiosity, tailoring instruction to individual needs, and nurturing a safe and supportive classroom, I aspire to empower the next generation of lifelong learners and effective communicators.

Trust | Encourage | Succeed
